AOL turned off their homepage blogs where this was originally hosted, so The Dennis Family info has been moved to this location. I still need to update the photos and images, they will soon be here as well.

WOODWARD, Increase, of Crosswicks, New-Jersey, was the youngest
daughter of JACOB and CLEMENCE DENNIS, of Shrewsbury,
New-Jersey, and was born the ICth of 12th month, 1742.
Her Grandfather, Samuel Dennis, removed to America, from
Stanstead-Mount-Fitchet, in Essex, and arrived at New-York,
the 27th of 8th month, 1675. He was a Bricklayer by trade. —
Memoirs, Essays, and Epistolary Correspondence of INCREASE
WOODWARD. In Comly's Miscellany, Vol. 12, page 1.
12mo. Philadelphia, 1839.
She died the 1st of the 6th month, 1822, aged about 80 years.

I have never seen this reference to the origins of Samuel Dennis, or his trade before. Very interesting. I will have to see if I can locate the source mentioned; Comly's Miscellany;  to see if there is anything further.

Instant Message Journal Test. Trying a new feature.

Using Google

Easy Google Genealogy searcher helps you use Google to find websites relating to your family.

This is just one of the many tips:

Don't Know the Exact Year?

With Google, you can search for a range of years. If you are not sure of the year, but you have an approximate idea, do a number range search.

Some examples are:

  • ship passenger list 1850..1860
  • obituary 1920..1925
  • John Smith Pennsylvania 1901..1980
